408 Small Block Ford

The 408 Ford is an excellent choice for those looking for a Windsor based stroker engine to fit in place of an existing 351. The additional stroke provides a boost in power along with better throttle response, acceleration, and overall performance. Features forged pistons, hydraulic roller camshaft, and aluminum heads. Looking to keep your original transmission and perhaps even use your factory EFI? Our 380+HP option 408 Ford is an excellent choice as we use a much milder camshaft and you can use your factory intake to be SMOG friendly with the factory EFI system and E40D transmission. Simple injector upgrade and a basic tune should get it rolling in the most inexpensive manner. 450 and 500hp combinations available as well. Everything available from a short block to long block, turn-key carbureted or EFI and drop-in-ready with your pulley kit of choice. What engine package works best for you?

380HP

Want to keep your stock EFI and E4OD transmission? This 408 is a great fit. With a mild cam, forged pistons, and aluminum heads, it works with your factory intake. Just upgrade the injectors and add a basic tune. We recommend inspecting or rebuilding the transmission and considering a converter upgrade.

450HP

Ready for more punch than the 380 HP version? This 408 steps up with a more aggressive cam and tuning for sharper throttle response, quicker acceleration, and stronger overall performance. Still built with forged pistons, a hydraulic roller camshaft, and aluminum heads—just with more attitude.

500HP

For those who want it all, this 500 HP version builds on the 450 with a more aggressive camshaft for maximum power and performance. It shares the same forged pistons, hydraulic roller setup, and aluminum heads—but delivers harder-hitting acceleration and a more commanding street or strip presence. A serious step up from the 380 and 450 HP builds.

Having approached a few local builders I quickly learned that nobody I approached offered warranty of any significance on rebuilt performance engines, but every single builder would do the work had I proceeded for a significant cost to me, all the risk being mine.

In 2011 I was looking for a local engine builder down here in Australia to rebuild my old modified 302 cu in engine. What I wanted was my original Windsor block rebuilt with all new rotating parts and the heads either changed out for Alloy or modified to seek more power. I also wanted to understand the warranty such engine builders would offer. I also wanted good horsepower and torque.

I was looking for a Ford 351W engine to fit in a GT40 replica and came across Prestige Motor Sports on the internet. My only regret is that I shipped the engine myself and it took forever; despite Doug's efforts to deal with my shipper. I should have let Prestige handle that too.
