489 Big Block Chevy

Based on the 454 Big Block Chevy, our 489 stroker offers a longer stroke which boosts torque and horsepower output to get your heavy classic out of the hole and moving quickly. This 550 horsepower version is designed for street performance. It combines a lopey idle with decent vacuum and excellent low end power for the ultimate Muscle Car upgrade. The 600 horsepower version is designed for street/strip performance. The rectangular port heads make for a top-end power house that will turn heads on the street and at the track. Everything available from a short block to long blocks to turn-key carbureted or EFI and drop-in-ready with your pulley kit of choice. Turn-Key & Drop-In-Ready engine packages come dyno tested and every engine package is personalized for you & tailored to your ride.

550 HP Version

Designed for street performance, this version utilizes oval port cylinder heads, delivers excellent low-end torque and a lopey idle with decent vacuum—perfect for muscle cars that need strong off-the-line power and everyday drivability. Having approached a few local builders I quickly learned that nobody I approached offered warranty of any significance on rebuilt performance engines, but every single builder would do the work had I proceeded for a significant cost to me, all the risk being mine.

In 2011 I was looking for a local engine builder down here in Australia to rebuild my old modified 302 cu in engine. What I wanted was my original Windsor block rebuilt with all new rotating parts and the heads either changed out for Alloy or modified to seek more power. I also wanted to understand the warranty such engine builders would offer. I also wanted good horsepower and torque.

I was looking for a Ford 351W engine to fit in a GT40 replica and came across Prestige Motor Sports on the internet. Doug Aitken was extremely helpful and always responded quickly to my emails and requests for information. I got what I wanted, on time, on budget and with no surprises. After my engine arrived Doug was helpful as ever when I was looking for compatible, parts, oils, etc. in the UK. My only regret is that I shipped the engine myself and it took forever; despite Doug's efforts to deal with my shipper. I should have let Prestige handle that too.
